The Great Transition from the Light of Law to the Light of Christ

Opening Intelligence

One of the greatest mysteries hidden throughout Scripture — at the level of Sod ha-Sod — is this: not every light is the same light.

The Bible unveils two entirely different orders of illumination, two distinct kingdoms of glory operating in the cosmos and within the human vessel.

  • The light that shines from outside man (the light of the external court)
  • The light that shines from within man (the light of the Holy of Holies)

One is the light of commandment and separation. The other is the light of communion and union. One is the light of observation and exposure. The other is the light of participation and transformation. One reveals the fallen image. The other restores the divine image.

Most believers remain trapped for years, even decades, in the first light, never fully crossing over into the second. Yet the entire purpose of the New Covenant, the very heartbeat of the age of the Spirit, is this great cosmic and personal transition — from the outer court illumination of Mount Sinai to the inner sanctuary illumination of Mount Zion.

The First Illumination

Paul called the ministry engraved on stone tablets a “ministry of death” and “ministry of condemnation” (2 Corinthians 3:7-9). This does not mean the Law was evil. The Torah is holy, righteous, and good — a perfect mirror of the divine standard.

At the Sod level, its purpose was revelatory judgment. It revealed man to himself in the full horror of his fallen condition. It exposed the serpent nature (Sitra Achra), uncovered the corruption inherited from Adam, and illuminated the chasm between a holy God and a polluted heart.

Yet this light had no power to transform what it exposed. Like the Shekinah glory resting upon the external Tabernacle, it remained outside the inner man. It could diagnose the leprosy of sin but could not cleanse it. It could reveal the chains of the prison but could not shatter them or raise the prisoner into sonship.

The entire Old Covenant system functioned through external illumination — a light that demands, measures, and condemns from without. Commandments came from Sinai. Requirements were written on stone. Judgments fell from heaven. The soul became locked in endless cycles of self-examination, self-correction, and self-improvement. The eye of the heart was forever turned back upon the fallen self — the very mechanism that strengthens the old nature.

This is why the ministry of the Spirit is not a continuation but a complete inversion.

The Appearing of the True Light

John opens his Gospel with a declaration that shakes the foundations of both worlds:

“The true Light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.” (John 1:9)

At the Sod ha-Sod, if Christ is the True Light, then every previous illumination was but a shadow and a tutor pointing toward this moment. The Logos did not come to add more external knowledge. He came as the embodiment of a different source — the uncreated Light of the Godhead breaking into creation.

  • The Law illuminated behavior and failure. Christ illuminates being and union.
  • The Law illuminated distance and lack. Christ illuminates participation and supply.
  • The Law revealed what man must do. Christ reveals what God has already become in us.

This is the mystery of the Incarnation at its deepest level: the Light that was with God and was God has now become flesh so that flesh might become flooded with God.

The Light Within

The New Covenant does not primarily set a lamp before us in the outer court. It kindles the eternal Lampstand within the Holy of Holies of our spirit.

  • Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27) — the very indwelling of the Godhead
  • The Bright Morning Star arising in your hearts (2 Peter 1:19) — the dawn of the Age to Come
  • The River of Life flowing from the inner throne (John 7:38, Revelation 22) — Eden restored from within
  • The law written upon the heart by the Finger of God (Jeremiah 31:33, Hebrews 8)
  • The Spirit making His permanent abode in the inner man
  • The Kingdom within — the governmental reality of the Throne established in the secret place

Everything shifts from external administration to internal participation. Under the old order, man labored in the outer court trying to approach a distant God. Under the new order, the God of the inner sanctuary approaches, indwells, and enthrones Himself within the believer.

Old order: illumination increased self-awareness and condemnation. New order: illumination increases God-awareness and transformation into His image.

This is the Sod of Edenic restoration — the Tree of Life now growing inside the redeemed heart, its roots drinking from the River that flows from the Throne.

The Great Freedom of Grace

Grace is not merely unmerited favor or forgiveness of sins. At the deepest level, Grace (chen / charis) is the divine influence of the indwelling Christ — the very life, nature, and power of Jesus operating as the governing reality within the believer.

As this Grace increases, the soul is progressively liberated from the tyranny of self-consciousness. The believer ceases the exhausting labor of continual self-observation and steps into the rest of continual Christ-observation. The eye of the heart is now fixed on the risen Lord who lives within.

This is true liberty:

“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” (2 Corinthians 3:17)

Liberty is not the absence of authority — it is the presence of the rightful King enthroned in the inner man. The more the Spirit fills the secret chambers, the more the darkness of the old nature loses its legal ground. The more Christ increases, the more the serpent nature is crucified and the divine nature is formed. The more Grace reigns, the more the government of heaven manifests visibly through the life of the Overcomer.

The Bright Morning Star

Peter unveils the ultimate objective of all spiritual maturity:

“Until the day dawns and the Morning Star rises in your hearts.” (2 Peter 1:19)

At Sod ha-Sod, the New Covenant is not primarily about learning doctrines about Jesus. It is the gradual, mystical rising of Jesus Himself as the governing Light within the believer’s spirit, soul, and eventually body.

The Morning Star does not merely teach — it transfigures. It does not merely expose darkness — it dissolves it by its inherent glory. It does not merely reveal heaven — it establishes the Throne-room governance of heaven within the inner man, releasing the River of Life and the fragrance of the 12 spiced mountains of Eden restored.

This is the birthing of the Joel’s Army Overcomers — a people in whom Christ has fully formed and now rules from the inside out.

Final Intelligence

The entire journey of the New Covenant can be summarized in this one great transition at the level of Sod ha-Sod:

  • From external light to internal Light
  • From observation to participation
  • From commandment to communion
  • From self-consciousness to Christ-consciousness
  • From condemnation to sonship
  • From striving to restful union
  • From law to Grace

The ultimate purpose of God is not merely that His people would see His light from a distance. His purpose is that His people would be completely flooded with His light until Christ Himself becomes the sole governing illumination of the entire inner man — spirit, soul, and body.

“For God, who commanded light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:6)

Mission Objective

Abandon the continual observation of the fallen self. Fix the eyes of your heart upon the indwelling Christ. Drink deeply and without measure from the River of Grace flowing from the inner Throne.

For the Kingdom of God advances with irresistible force wherever the Light of Christ rises in fullness within His people — establishing the Throne, releasing the River, and manifesting the Tree of Life in the earth.
