OPERATION GRACE TO GLORY
RLM TV SPECIAL FORCES INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING 3
OPERATION INTERNAL FOUNTAIN
Moving the Believer From Information About Water Into Participation in Life

Pairs with Chapter III — Drinking the River of Grace

Mission Classification: Divine Participation
Operational Theater: Thirst, Living Water, the Inner Man, and the Overflowing Life
Primary Scriptures: Isaiah 12:2–3; John 4:7–14; John 7:37–39; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Revelation 22:1–2, 17

Mission Theme:
STOP INSPECTING THE RIVER FROM THE BANK.

Intel Phrase:
YOU CAN MEMORIZE THE MAP OF THE RIVER
AND STILL DIE THIRSTY.
DRINK.

CLASSIFIED MISSION

There is a difference between knowing that water exists—
and drinking.

There is a difference between studying a fountain—
and receiving what flows from it.

There is a difference between explaining grace—
and living by continual communion with Jesus Christ.

This distinction exposes one of the most subtle dangers confronting religious consciousness:
WE CAN POSSESS INFORMATION ABOUT LIFE WITHOUT PARTICIPATING IN LIFE.

A person can become highly educated concerning water while remaining thirsty.
He can analyze its composition.
Chart its movement.
Study its sources.
Defend its existence.
Write books about its properties.
Debate other people concerning its correct interpretation.

And yet none of those activities can substitute for one simple act:
DRINKING.

Jesus does not merely reveal Himself as Someone to be analyzed.
He gives an invitation:

“If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink!”
— John 7:37 AMPC

The third mission of Operation Grace to Glory therefore moves us from:
INFORMATION
into:
PARTICIPATION.

The first briefing recovered the original glory before the Fall.
The second secured the supply line from the Throne.
This third briefing now carries the supply across the final threshold:
from external knowledge into internal life.

OPENING INTELLIGENCE

The previous operation exposed the Supply-Line War.
We discovered that the branch possesses no independent life.
Christ is the Vine.
Grace is received.
The throne remains open.
The believer lives from divine supply.

But now another intelligence question emerges:
HOW DOES SUPPLY BECOME PARTICIPATION?

Jesus repeatedly answers through the imagery of:
WATER.

Not merely water observed.
Not merely water understood.
Not merely water admired.

But:
WATER RECEIVED.

At Jacob’s well, Jesus speaks of living water.
At the Feast, He cries:
COME.
DRINK.

In Revelation, the invitation remains:
TAKE THE WATER OF LIFE FREELY.

The biblical trajectory is unmistakable.
God does not merely want humanity standing beside the River.
HE INVITES THE THIRSTY TO RECEIVE.

Information can bring a person to the edge of the water.
Only drinking carries the water into the depths of the inner man.

FIRST ILLUMINATION

THIRST IS NOT THE ENEMY

Religious consciousness often treats need as failure.

If you are thirsty, perhaps something is wrong with you.
If you are hungry, perhaps you are spiritually immature.
If you recognize emptiness, perhaps you have failed.

Jesus treats thirst very differently.

He says:
“If any man is thirsty…”

Thirst becomes the qualification for the invitation.
Not achievement.
Not reputation.
Not spiritual résumé.
THIRST.

This is astonishing.

Thirst is the body’s intelligence that supply is needed.
Spiritually, acknowledged thirst can become the place where illusion ends.

The self-sufficient person says:
I have enough.

The thirsty person says:
I NEED TO RECEIVE.

And Jesus answers:
COME.

Thirst is not condemnation.
Thirst is the first honest confession that the branch cannot manufacture its own life.
It is the beginning of the drinking life.

THE ENEMY STRONGHOLD

SPECTATOR CHRISTIANITY

The enemy does not necessarily need to stop people from discussing God.
He can tolerate enormous amounts of religious conversation if communion with Christ remains theoretical.

This produces:
knowledge without participation,
terminology without encounter,
doctrine without drinking,
religious activity without inward supply,
information about Christ without conscious dependence upon Christ.

This is:
SPECTATOR CHRISTIANITY.

The spectator stands on the bank.
He observes other people swimming.
He measures the River.
He photographs the River.
He argues about the River.
He creates a theology of the River.

But Jesus does not merely say:
STUDY THE WATER.

He says:
DRINK.

Spectator Christianity can become extremely sophisticated.
It can master the language of grace while never tasting the life of grace.
It can defend the existence of the Fountain while never approaching it with an open mouth.

The stronghold is not always open unbelief.
Often it is the quiet decision to remain forever on the bank—
informed, articulate, and still thirsty.

ISAIAH’S ANCIENT WATER INTELLIGENCE

Long before Jesus stood at the Feast, Isaiah announced:

“Behold, God, my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid, for the Lord God is my strength and song; yes, He has become my salvation. Therefore with joy will you draw water from the wells of salvation.”
— Isaiah 12:2–3 AMPC

Notice the action:
DRAW.

The well contains supply.
But the water is drawn.

Salvation is not pictured merely as a legal concept.
Isaiah gives us experiential imagery.

There is water.
There are wells.
There is joy.
There is drawing.

The ancient prophetic image prepares the battlefield for the words of Christ.
Something is available from God that humanity is invited to:
RECEIVE.

Isaiah does not say:
Therefore with joy shall ye analyze the wells of salvation.
He says:
DRAW.

The joy is not found in the map of the well.
The joy is found in the water that is drawn and enters the soul.

INTELLIGENCE DISCOVERY 2

JESUS MOVES THE WELL INSIDE

John 4 takes the revelation deeper.

Jesus tells the Samaritan woman:

“If you had only known and had recognized God’s gift and Who this is that is saying to you, Give Me a drink, you would have asked Him [instead] and He would have given you living water.”
— John 4:10 AMPC

Notice two pieces of intelligence:
THE GIFT OF GOD.
And:
WHO IT IS.

The gift cannot finally be separated from the Giver.

Jesus then speaks of living water.
But the extraordinary development comes next:

“But whoever takes a drink of the water that I will give him shall never, no never, be thirsty any more. But the water that I will give him shall become a spring of water welling up (flowing, bubbling) [continually] within him unto (into, for) eternal life.”
— John 4:14 AMPC

The geography changes.

The woman begins beside:
AN EXTERNAL WELL.

Jesus reveals:
AN INTERNAL WELL.

The water He gives becomes:
IN HIM.

This is one of the great movements of the New Covenant.
What humanity seeks outside itself through religion, Christ begins establishing within through His indwelling life.

The external well required constant travel.
The internal well means the Source has come to dwell where the thirst lives.

THE INTERNAL FOUNTAIN

This does not mean humanity becomes an autonomous source.
That would contradict the previous briefing.

The internal fountain remains:
HIS GIFT.

Jesus says:
“The water that I will give…”

The Source remains Christ.
The life remains received.
But what is received becomes inwardly present.

This is the mystery.

CHRIST IS THE SOURCE.
↓
THE GIFT IS RECEIVED.
↓
THE LIFE BECOMES INTERNAL.
↓
THE INTERNAL LIFE SPRINGS UP.

The believer is no longer merely traveling from external religious object to external religious object hoping to obtain life.
Christ gives:
AN INNER WELL.

The New Covenant does not abolish the need for continual dependence.
It relocates the place where the dependence is continually satisfied—
from endless external seeking into the living presence of the indwelling Christ.

CLASSIFIED REVELATION

THE RIVER IS MOVING TOWARD THE HUMAN TEMPLE

John 7 expands the operation.

Jesus stands and cries:

“If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink! He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water.”
— John 7:37–38 AMPC

John immediately interprets the imagery:

“But He was speaking here of the Spirit, Whom those who believed (trusted, had faith) in Him were afterward to receive. For the [Holy] Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified (raised to honor).”
— John 7:39 AMPC

This protects the revelation from speculation.
The living-water imagery is explicitly connected by John with:
THE HOLY SPIRIT.

Now watch the movement:

THIRST
↓
CHRIST
↓
DRINKING
↓
SPIRIT
↓
INNERMOST BEING
↓
RIVERS FLOWING OUT.

This is no longer spectator religion.
THIS IS PARTICIPATION.

The Spirit is not given as a distant influence.
He is given as the living water that takes up residence in the innermost being and begins to flow.

FROM WELL TO RIVER

John 4 says:
A WELL WITHIN.

John 7 says:
RIVERS FLOWING OUT.

Revelation 22 shows:
A RIVER FLOWING FROM THE THRONE.

These images are not identical scenes and should not be collapsed into one literal description.
But together they create a magnificent canonical meditation:

GOD IS THE SOURCE OF LIFE.
CHRIST INVITES THE THIRSTY.
THE SPIRIT IS GIVEN.
LIFE BECOMES INWARDLY PRESENT.
LIFE OVERFLOWS.

This is the biblical foundation beneath our RLM language:
THE RIVER OF GRACE WITHIN.

We call it the River of Grace because the water is freely given through Christ, the throne is the throne of grace, and the Spirit communicates the life we could never manufacture ourselves.

But Scripture’s explicit language remains:
LIVING WATER. WATER OF LIFE. THE SPIRIT.

The synthesis serves the revelation.
It does not replace the biblical language.

THE SOD HA-SOD MYSTERY

HEAVEN’S RIVER BECOMES AN EARTHLY OVERFLOW

Here the imagery becomes extraordinary.

Revelation shows:

“THEN HE showed me the river whose waters give life, sparkling like crystal, flowing out from the throne of God and of the Lamb.”
— Revelation 22:1 AMPC

Jesus speaks of:
WATER WITHIN THE BELIEVER.

And then:
RIVERS FLOWING OUT.

The direction of divine life is therefore not merely:
HEAVEN → HUMANITY.

It becomes:
GOD → CHRIST → SPIRIT → HUMAN TEMPLE → OVERFLOW.

The believer does not become the origin.
The believer becomes:
A PARTICIPATING VESSEL.

Heaven’s life enters human experience and begins flowing outward.
This is how the invisible kingdom becomes visible.

Grace received becomes:
love expressed,
mercy expressed,
life expressed,
joy expressed,
holiness expressed,
generosity expressed,
Christ expressed.

The fountain within becomes:
FRUIT WITHOUT.

The Sod ha-Sod layer is this:
the River that flows from the Throne of God and of the Lamb is not only a future eschatological reality.
It is already beginning to flow through the temples of those who have come and drunk.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STORAGE AND FLOW

There is another danger.

Even after discovering reception, the soul can imagine spiritual life merely as something accumulated for itself.

But Jesus does not say:
Out of him shall form a private reservoir.

He says:
RIVERS SHALL FLOW.

The nature of divine life is overflow.

We receive—
and give.

We drink—
and pour.

We are comforted—
and comfort.

We receive mercy—
and become merciful.

We receive grace—
and become gracious.

We behold Christ—
and His character begins becoming visible.

Therefore:
THE RIVER ENTERS US, BUT IT DOES NOT TERMINATE IN US.

A closed reservoir eventually stagnates.
A river remains pure because it keeps moving.
The life of the Spirit is designed to keep moving—into the believer and then through the believer.

OPERATIONAL WARNING

DO NOT TURN “DRINKING” INTO A TECHNIQUE

This is crucial.

Once believers discover powerful devotional language, religion can turn even reception into another performance system.

Did I drink correctly?
Did I feel enough?
Did I pray the correct number of minutes?
Did I achieve the correct spiritual sensation?

Then drinking itself becomes another law.

But Jesus’ invitation is relational:
COME UNTO ME.

The goal is not mastering a mystical technique.
The goal is:
CHRIST.

Prayer can become drinking because prayer turns toward Christ.
Worship can become drinking because worship receives and responds to God.
Scripture meditation can become drinking as the Word turns our hearts toward the living Lord.
Thanksgiving can become drinking because it recognizes gift.
Stillness can become drinking when it is restful dependence upon Christ.

But no practice replaces:
THE PERSON.

The Fountain is not a formula.
THE FOUNTAIN IS CHRIST.

Any system that makes the method more central than the One who invites has already begun drifting back toward spectator religion dressed in mystical clothing.

THE GREAT RELIGIOUS DECEPTION

Religion often prefers information because information can be controlled.

We can categorize it.
Memorize it.
Examine it.
Argue over it.
Earn credentials from it.

But living communion requires:
DEPENDENCE.

Water cannot be merely admired.
It must enter you.

Bread cannot merely be analyzed.
It must be eaten.

Breath cannot merely be studied.
It must be breathed.

This is why Jesus uses intensely participatory imagery throughout His ministry.
The Gospel does not merely inform the mind.
It summons the whole person into:
COMMUNION WITH GOD.

Information can be mastered.
Communion requires continual coming.

INFORMATION IS NOT THE ENEMY

We must distinguish carefully.

This briefing is not anti-theology.
Doctrine matters.
Truth matters.
Scripture matters.
Understanding matters.

The problem arises when information becomes:
A SUBSTITUTE FOR PARTICIPATION.

Healthy doctrine identifies the Fountain accurately.
Then it should help lead the thirsty person toward:
CHRIST.

The map is valuable.
But the map is not water.

The sermon is valuable.
But the sermon is not the Fountain.

The book is valuable.
But the book cannot replace communion.

Even this Intelligence Briefing succeeds only if it does more than give you additional information about drinking.
Its mission is to awaken:
THIRST.

Accurate doctrine is a gift.
But the gift is meant to lead the soul to the Giver.

INTELLIGENCE DISCOVERY 3

THE INVITATION REMAINS OPEN UNTIL REVELATION’S FINAL CHAPTER

One of the most beautiful facts in Scripture is that the invitation to drink does not disappear.

The Bible is nearly finished.
The throne has been revealed.
The River of Life is flowing.
The Tree of Life stands there.

And the Spirit and the Bride say:

“The [Holy] Spirit and the bride (the church, the true Christians) say, Come! And let him who is listening say, Come! And let everyone come who is thirsty [who is painfully conscious of his need of those things by which the soul is refreshed, supported, and strengthened]; and whoever [earnestly] desires to do it, let him come, take, appropriate, and drink the water of Life without cost.”
— Revelation 22:17 AMPC

The final invitation is still:
RECEIVE.

This is grace.

The water is not sold.
It is not earned.
It is not awarded to the spiritually impressive.
TAKE FREELY.

The Bible ends with the thirsty still being invited to drink.
The invitation that began at Jacob’s well and was cried aloud at the Feast is still open in the closing chapter of the canon.

Grace does not run out of water.
The Throne does not close the river.

FROM THIRST TO OVERFLOW

We can now map the entire operation.

THIRST
The soul recognizes need.
↓
COME
The heart turns toward Jesus Christ.
↓
DRINK
The gift is received through faith and communion.
↓
SPIRIT
The living-water promise is fulfilled through the Holy Spirit.
↓
INNER SPRING
Life becomes inwardly active.
↓
OVERFLOW
What is received begins flowing outward.

This is not merely theology.
THIS IS THE DRINKING LIFE.

The sequence is not a ladder of achievement.
It is the normal rhythm of those who have stopped standing on the bank.

GRACE AND PARTICIPATION

Grace can be discussed entirely as a doctrine of divine favor.
That doctrine is essential.

But grace also brings us into actual relationship with the One who gives Himself to us.

Paul says:
“By the grace of God I am what I am.”

Grace changes more than our theological vocabulary.
Grace brings us into a life we did not originate.

Therefore:
WE DRINK GRACE FOR GLORY.

Again, this is our theological shorthand.
We are not saying Scripture calls a literal fluid “grace.”
We mean:
We continually receive the freely given life of God in Christ through the Spirit—
and that communion participates in the Spirit’s transformation of the believer toward the image of Christ.

Grace supplies.
The Spirit transforms.
Christ is revealed.
Glory becomes visible.

THE GRACE-TO-GLORY CONNECTION

Why does Operation Internal Fountain belong inside a series about glorification?

Because transformation cannot proceed from information alone.

The New Covenant is participatory.

Paul speaks of:
Christ in you.

Jesus speaks of:
abiding.

John speaks of:
fellowship.

Jesus speaks of:
drinking.

Paul speaks of:
the Spirit dwelling in you.

The journey from grace to glory therefore involves more than agreeing that grace exists.
GRACE MUST BRING US INTO LIVING COMMUNION WITH CHRIST.

The thirsty soul does not manufacture glory.
It receives life.
The Spirit works.
Christ is formed.
The image changes.

Glory is not the reward of those who mastered the map.
Glory is the overflow of those who kept drinking from the Fountain.

FROM EXTERNAL RELIGION TO INTERNAL LIFE

This becomes one of the great New Covenant movements.

Not:
law merely outside.
But:
GOD WORKING WITHIN.

Not:
religious identity constructed externally.
But:
CHRIST FORMED WITHIN.

Not:
water only at the well.
But:
A WELL WITHIN.

Not:
River merely observed.
But:
RIVERS FLOWING OUT.

The New Covenant does not abolish outward obedience.
It transforms the source from which genuine obedience grows.

The tree becomes good—
and good fruit appears.

The fountain becomes living—
and living water flows.

External religion can produce temporary appearance.
Internal life produces lasting overflow.

THE AYIN AND THE FOUNTAIN

Within the RLM symbolic framework, this also gives us a powerful picture concerning the inner life.

The Ayin—the eye, perception, the field of inward attention—can become occupied with scarcity:
I do not have enough.
I am empty.
I must manufacture life.
God is far away.
Supply is outside me.

But the words of Christ redirect the inward gaze:

“THE WATER THAT I WILL GIVE HIM
SHALL BECOME A SPRING OF WATER WELLING UP… WITHIN HIM.”

The Ayin no longer needs to stare continually into the wilderness looking for independent sources.
Faith recognizes:
CHRIST HAS GIVEN HIS SPIRIT.

The Fountain has become inwardly present.
And this prepares us for the coming Image War, where what the unveiled believer beholds becomes central to transformation.

The eye that once searched desperately outside now rests upon the well that has been given within.

FIELD INTELLIGENCE

Ask:

Am I studying grace more than receiving grace?
Has my knowledge of Christ outrun my communion with Christ?
Have I mistaken theological vocabulary for spiritual participation?
Do I approach Scripture only to gather information, or also to encounter the Lord revealed through it?
Has prayer become duty without reception?
Has worship become performance without communion?
Am I standing beside truths that Jesus invited me to experience?

And most importantly:
AM I THIRSTY?

Because thirst is not condemnation.
Thirst is invitation.

These questions are not designed to produce more self-effort.
They are designed to return the soul to the edge of the water with an open mouth.

RESTORING THE INTERNAL FOUNTAIN

The mission is remarkably simple.

You do not have to create the River.
You do not have to invent the Fountain.
You do not have to persuade Christ to become generous.

The invitation already stands.

RECOGNIZE THIRST.
↓
TURN TOWARD CHRIST.
↓
COME.
↓
RECEIVE.
↓
DRINK.
↓
TRUST THE SPIRIT’S INDWELLING LIFE.
↓
LET WHAT IS RECEIVED OVERFLOW.

This is participation.

The Fountain does not require improvement.
It requires approach.

THE SOLDIER AT THE RIVER

Imagine a soldier crossing a wilderness.
His commander gives him intelligence identifying an enormous river directly ahead.

The soldier memorizes the coordinates.
He studies the map.
He learns the River’s name.
He teaches the other soldiers its history.
He successfully defeats every argument claiming the River does not exist.

But then he sits down beside it—
and dies of thirst.

Why?

Because:
ACCURATE INFORMATION ABOUT SUPPLY IS NOT THE SAME AS RECEIVING SUPPLY.

This is the intelligence crisis facing spectator Christianity.

We have preached about the River long enough.
DRINK.

The map was never the destination.
The map was always meant to lead the thirsty to the water.

MISSION OBJECTIVE

Before entering Chapter III, establish these coordinates:

  • Thirst is an invitation to receive, not a sentence of condemnation.
  • Jesus Christ is the Fountain and Giver of living water.
  • The believer is invited to come and drink.
  • John explicitly connects Christ’s living-water promise with the Holy Spirit.
  • The New Covenant moves from external observation toward inward participation.
  • The water Christ gives becomes an inner spring.
  • The Spirit’s life is intended to overflow rather than terminate in private spirituality.
  • Information serves communion; it must never replace communion.
  • “Drinking grace” is RLM theological language for receiving God’s freely given life in Christ through the Spirit.
  • And:
YOU CAN MEMORIZE THE MAP OF THE RIVER AND STILL DIE THIRSTY. DRINK.

OPERATIONAL SEQUENCE

THIRST
↓
COME
↓
CHRIST
↓
DRINK
↓
SPIRIT
↓
INNER FOUNTAIN
↓
RIVERS OF LIVING WATER
↓
OVERFLOW
↓
GLORY TO GOD.

FINAL INTELLIGENCE

The first operation recovered:
ORIGINAL GLORY.

The second operation secured:
THE SUPPLY LINE.

Now the third operation moves the supply:
INSIDE.

The River is no longer merely something we discuss.
The Fountain is no longer merely something we search for.

Jesus says:
COME TO ME.

The thirsty come.
The thirsty drink.
The Spirit gives life.
The well springs up.
The River flows outward.

And Revelation’s final invitation continues echoing through the ages:
COME.
TAKE.
DRINK FREELY.

The Gospel does not invite humanity merely to understand living water.
THE GOSPEL INVITES HUMANITY TO DRINK.

Stop measuring the River.
Stop arguing from the bank.
Stop dying beside the Fountain while possessing perfect terminology for water.

The invitation of Jesus Christ remains:

“IF ANY MAN IS THIRSTY,
LET HIM COME TO ME
AND DRINK!”

OPERATION GRACE TO GLORY
SPECIAL FORCES INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING 3
OPERATION INTERNAL FOUNTAIN

Mission Accomplished:
Spectator Christianity has been exposed.
The map has served its purpose.
The thirsty have located the Fountain.
The external well has become an internal spring.
The Spirit has been identified as the living-water gift.
And the believer is being moved:
FROM INFORMATION INTO PARTICIPATION.

We are now prepared to enter Chapter III:
DRINKING THE RIVER OF GRACE.

MORE GRACE. MORE CHRIST. MORE GLORY.

COME. DRINK. LIVE.
