Intelligence Briefing 5
OPERATION CRUCIFIED SOURCE
The Cross and the End of Adamic Self-Supply

Pairs with Chapter V — The Cross of the Two Adams
Mission Classification: Cruciform Warfare
Operational Theater: Cross · Old Man · Grace · Union · Divine Supply
Primary Scripture: Romans 6:1–11; Galatians 2:19–21
Supporting Intelligence: Philippians 2:5–11; Galatians 3:13–14; Hebrews 10:19–29; John 19:30–37

CLASSIFIED MISSION

We have traced the battlefield from Eden to the Living Sword.

Operation Original Design recovered humanity’s first order:

God → Gift → Humanity → Expression

Humanity was created to receive.

Operation Broken Fountain exposed the catastrophe of the Fall:

Receiving → Grasping
Divine supply → Self-supply
God-consciousness → Fallen self-consciousness

The vessel attempted to live as though it were the fountain.

Operation Last Adam revealed God’s answer:

First Adam — receives Life
Last Adam — gives Life

Then Operation Dividing Sword placed the Living Word inside the battlefield of human consciousness and asked: What is the Source?

The Sword penetrates beneath behavior. It distinguishes. It exposes. It discerns thoughts and intentions. It reveals what government is operating.

But now Intelligence Briefing 5 brings us to the decisive battlefield.

It is not enough for the false source merely to be identified.

The old government must be brought to the Cross.

The Cross is where the Adamic order encounters its judgment.
The Cross is where autonomous boasting ends.
The Cross is where self-righteousness loses its claim.
The Cross is where the closed circuit of fallen self-supply is broken.

And the Cross is where humanity is opened to an entirely different Source:

Jesus Christ.

MISSION QUESTION

What exactly does the Cross terminate — and what does it open?

This question requires precision.

If we answer incorrectly, we can turn Christianity into warfare against human personhood itself. We might imagine that God hates the human soul. That personality must disappear. That desire itself is evil. That embodiment is the problem. That salvation means becoming less human.

But our previous intelligence has already prevented that mistake.

Adam was Nefesh Chayyah before the Fall.

Therefore Nefesh is not the Fall.

And consequently: the Cross does not crucify humanity because humanity was a mistake.

The Cross deals decisively with sin, condemnation, curse, death, and the old Adamic solidarity under which fallen humanity exists.

Paul’s language is astonishing:

“Our old man was crucified with Him…”
— Romans 6:6

Something has reached its judicial and redemptive termination in the Cross.

But something else is simultaneously being opened.

Paul declares:

“I have been crucified with Christ… Christ lives in me.”
— Galatians 2:20

There is the transfer.

Old man → crucified
Christ → lives in me

The Cross is therefore simultaneously termination and transition.

Something ends.
Someone enters.

1. OUR OLD MAN CRUCIFIED

Romans 6 does not present the Cross merely as something that happened to Jesus while we watched from a distance.

Paul brings the believer into union with Christ’s death and resurrection.

We were baptized into His death.
We were buried with Him.
Our old man was crucified with Him.
We are to reckon ourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

This is participation language.

Christ’s death is unique, unrepeatable, and redemptively decisive. Yet through union with Him, believers participate in the consequences of His death and resurrection.

Paul therefore does not merely say: Jesus died.

He says: You died with Him.

The Cross reaches into the identity and government of the old humanity.

This is why Christianity can never finally be reduced to giving Adam better moral advice. The Cross announces something far more radical.

The old man was not sent to reform school.
The old man was crucified with Christ.

2. OLD MAN IS NOT NEFESH

Here we must deploy one of the most important distinctions in the entire operation.

The “old man” is not simply another word for Nefesh.

If we collapse these categories, we will corrupt the mission.

Nefesh belongs to God’s created human order. Genesis 2:7 precedes Genesis 3.

The old man, however, belongs to Paul’s description of humanity in relation to the old Adamic order of sin.

Therefore the Cross does not mean God hates the soul.

It means the reign of sin over humanity has encountered Christ.

Paul’s goal in Romans 6 is not annihilation of human personality. It is liberation:

“…that we should no longer be slaves of sin.”

That is government language.

The human being is not being erased. Slavery is being broken.

The Nefesh is not being thrown away. Its false government is being displaced.

This is essential intelligence:

Creation is not the enemy.
Embodiment is not the enemy.
Nefesh is not the enemy.

Sin and death are the enemies.

3. “I HAVE BEEN CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST”

Galatians 2:20 brings the intelligence even deeper:

“I have been crucified with Christ…”

Paul places his own “I” inside the Cross-event.

But notice what follows.

Paul continues speaking.
Paul continues thinking.
Paul continues loving.
Paul continues serving.
Paul continues possessing recognizable personhood.

Therefore crucifixion with Christ cannot mean the metaphysical annihilation of the human person.

Something subtler and greater has happened.

The autonomous claim of the old Adamic “I” has encountered the Cross.

The boastful “I.”
The self-justifying “I.”
The self-righteous “I.”
The “I” attempting to establish righteousness through law.
The “I” attempting to become its own sufficient source.

That entire government encounters Christ crucified.

This is why Galatians 2:20 must be read with verse 21:

“I do not frustrate the grace of God…”

The Cross and grace belong together.

If righteousness could be manufactured through the old human system, Paul says Christ died needlessly.

But Christ did not die needlessly.

The Cross announces:

What fallen Adam could not produce, God would supply in Christ.

4. “NO LONGER I”

Then comes the staggering phrase: no longer I.

This phrase can be misunderstood.

Paul does not cease to exist. The redeemed person does not become a vacant shell. Christianity is not the deletion of personality.

“No longer I” means that the autonomous self is no longer the governing center and redemptive source.

The old claim —

I will produce.
I will justify.
I will establish myself.
I will supply what I need. —

meets the Cross.

The believer discovers:

I am not my own savior.
I am not my own righteousness.
I am not the fountain of divine Life.

This is not humiliation of humanity. It is liberation from an impossible assignment.

The branch was never supposed to manufacture the Vine.
The vessel was never supposed to manufacture the Fountain.
The receiver was never supposed to become the Source.

“No longer I” is the death of false source.

5. “CHRIST LIVES IN ME”

But Paul does not end with death.

He immediately reveals the New Covenant mystery:

Christ lives in me.

There is the answer to Operation Broken Fountain.

The receiver attempted to become the Source.

God’s answer is not simply: Try harder to remain a receiver.

God does something unimaginable.

The Source comes to dwell within the receiver.

Christ in you.
Spirit within.
Life within.
Grace within.

The believer remains creature.
Christ remains Lord.

Communion does not erase distinction between Creator and creature. Yet through the Holy Spirit, the Life of Christ genuinely becomes operative within His people.

Therefore the Christian life is not:

Nefesh → Nefesh → Nefesh

It is increasingly:

God → Christ → Spirit → human ruach → renewed Nefesh → embodied life

The closed circuit has been opened.

6. GRASPING VERSUS SELF-GIVING

Now return to Genesis 3.

The Fall contains a movement: see → desire → take.

Humanity grasps.

Philippians 2 presents Christ moving in the opposite direction.

Christ does not exploit His status for self-advantage. He empties Himself, takes the form of a servant, humbles Himself, and becomes obedient unto death — even the death of the Cross.

This is the great reversal.

Adamic government:
Grasp. Take. Exalt self. Preserve self. Secure self.

Christ government:
Receive from the Father. Give. Serve. Humble self. Obey. Lay down Life.

The Cross therefore reveals more than the solution to guilt. It reveals the character of the New Humanity’s King.

The serpent’s logic says: Take so that you may become.

The Gospel reveals Christ: Give because you know who you are in the Father.

This is cruciform government.

7. BLOOD OF COVENANT

The Cross is not merely an inspiring example of self-giving.

Blood is shed.
Covenant is established.
Sin is dealt with.
Access is opened.

Hebrews declares that believers possess confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus.

This means the movement toward divine supply is not based upon human spiritual achievement.

We do not approach because the Nefesh finally perfected itself.
We approach through Christ.

The blood gives access.

The Cross therefore destroys the religious fantasy that we must first repair ourselves sufficiently before approaching God.

The Gospel reverses the order.

We approach through Christ so that grace can accomplish what self-supply never could.

The Sword exposed us.
The Cross opens the way.
The blood gives access.
The High Priest remains.
The Throne supplies.
The River will soon flow.

8. SPIRIT OF GRACE

Hebrews 10:29 gives the extraordinary expression: the Spirit of Grace.

Grace is not merely God’s leniency toward failure. Grace belongs to the active divine economy through which God gives what fallen humanity cannot manufacture.

And Galatians 3 connects Christ’s redemptive work with the promised Spirit:

Christ redeems from the curse so that the blessing of Abraham might come in Christ Jesus, and that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Notice the movement:

Christ → Cross → Redemption → Blessing → Spirit received

The Cross therefore does not merely forgive the old life and send it back into the world empty. It opens humanity toward divine supply.

This is where our language must remain precise:

The blood establishes covenant access.
The Spirit communicates covenant Life.

The Cross and Spirit must not be separated.

Calvary moves toward Pentecost.
The Lamb moves toward the River.

Blood opens access.
Spirit supplies Life.

9. CROSS → SPIRIT → SUPPLY

Now the operational architecture becomes visible.

The old system looked like this:

Self → Effort → Self-supply → Exhaustion → Failure → Condemnation → More self-effort

A closed circuit.

Religion can baptize that circuit in Christian vocabulary while leaving its engine untouched.

Try harder.
Perform better.
Prove yourself.
Fix yourself.
Make yourself acceptable.
Generate love.
Generate joy.
Generate peace.
Generate holiness.

And eventually the exhausted believer asks: Where does the Life come from?

The Cross answers: Not from you as origin.
The Spirit answers: From Christ.

Therefore:

Cross → Spirit → Supply

This does not eliminate obedience. It creates a new source for obedience.

It does not eliminate human participation. It liberates participation from self-salvation.

It does not eliminate discipline. It changes the fountain from which discipline flows.

It does not produce passivity. It produces fruitfulness.

The New Covenant believer acts — but acts from received Life.

10. FROM SELF-SOURCE TO CHRIST-SOURCE

We can now state the entire mission.

The Cross terminates the old Adamic claim to autonomous life.

And it opens humanity toward Christ-source.

This is the great transfer.

Self-righteousness → Christ our righteousness
Self-justification → Justification in Christ
Self-preservation → Life surrendered to Christ
Self-glory → Glory in the Cross
Self-supply → Grace
Old Adam → Last Adam
Death → Life

The Cross stands between the two orders.

It is the great interruption.
The great judgment.
The great doorway.
The great transfer point.

Self-supply → Cross → Christ-supply

THE SPEAR AND THE OPENED SIDE

John 19 gives us a final image for this operation.

Jesus declares: It is finished.

Then His side is pierced. John records blood and water.

We should respect John’s own narrative and theological purposes rather than force every detail into a rigid symbolic system. Yet within the wider canonical witness, the image is extraordinarily fitting for our journey.

The crucified Christ is not a closed fountain.

The Pierced One gives.
The One humanity pierced becomes the One from whom salvation flows.

The Adamic system says: Take.
The Crucified Christ says: I give Myself.

The fallen creature grasps for life.
The Son lays His Life down.

And the Cross therefore exposes the deepest difference between the two humanities:

One order lives by grasping.
The New Humanity lives by receiving from the self-giving Son.

THE CROSS AND THE IMAGE WAR

Remember Genesis 3.

The serpent introduced a false image of God: God withholds. Therefore you must grasp.

But look at Calvary.

God gives His Son.
The Son gives Himself.

The Cross destroys the serpent’s image of the Withholder.

God is Giver.
Christ is Gift.
Grace is supply.

The Cross therefore answers the Image War.

Genesis 3: Look at the tree → Desire → Take
Calvary: Look upon the Pierced One → Believe → Receive

One gaze feeds autonomous grasping.
The other beholds self-giving Love.

OPERATIONAL TRANSFER

The intelligence can now be reduced to one battlefield map.

Fallen Adamic circuit:

False word
↓
False image
↓
Disordered desire
↓
Grasping
↓
Self-source
↓
Self-preservation
↓
Sin
↓
Death

The cruciform transfer:

Christ
↓
Cross
↓
Blood
↓
Access
↓
Spirit of Grace
↓
Divine supply
↓
Renewed humanity
↓
Fruit
↓
Life

Self-supply → Cross → Christ-supply

FIELD INTELLIGENCE: WHEN SELF-SUPPLY APPEARS

This briefing becomes practical the moment pressure arrives.

You fail.
The old circuit says: Fix yourself.
The Cross says: Come through Christ.

You feel weak.
The old circuit says: Become strong enough.
Grace says: Receive supply.

Fear appears.
The old circuit says: Control everything.
Christ says: Abide in Me.

Condemnation speaks.
The old circuit says: Punish yourself until you feel acceptable.
The blood says: Access has been opened through Another.

Religious striving rises.
The old circuit says: Prove your devotion.
The Spirit of Grace says: Receive, then walk.

This is how the Cross becomes daily intelligence rather than merely historical information.

FIELD PROTOCOL

When the Sword exposes self-supply:

  1. Stop. Do not immediately obey the old circuit.
  2. Discern. Ask: What is the Source?
  3. Identify. Is this faith — or fear? Grace — or self-justification? Obedience — or grasping? Love — or self-preservation?
  4. Bring it to the Cross. Remember: I have been crucified with Christ.
  5. Turn to Christ. Do not remain staring at the exposed Nefesh.
  6. Receive. Approach the Throne. Receive mercy. Receive grace. Receive divine supply.
  7. Walk. Now act from received Life.

Discern → Cross → Christ → Receive → Walk

PRIMARY INTEL

We can now state the governing intelligence of Briefing 5:

The Cross is the end of the closed circuit.

The Nefesh cannot save the Nefesh.
The old man cannot resurrect the old man.
Self-effort cannot manufacture Christ.
Religious performance cannot generate the Spirit.
Human striving cannot produce resurrection Life.

The closed circuit must be interrupted from outside itself.

And God has interrupted it.

Jesus Christ has come.

The Last Adam has entered the old Adamic world.
He has gone to the Cross.
He has passed through death.
He has risen.
He gives Life.

CRUCIFORM INTELLIGENCE SUMMARY

Target: Adamic self-supply
Weapon: The Cross of Jesus Christ
Old Man: Humanity identified with the old Adamic order under sin — not another name for Nefesh
Union: We have been crucified with Christ and are called to walk in newness of Life
“No Longer I”: Not annihilation of personhood, but the termination of the autonomous self as redemptive source
“Christ Lives in Me”: The New Covenant answer to the closed circuit
Blood: Covenant access is opened through Jesus
Spirit of Grace: Divine supply is received, not manufactured
Cruciform Government: Grasping is answered by the self-giving Son

Operational Transfer:
Self-supply → Cross → Christ-supply

FINAL INTELLIGENCE

The Cross does not reveal that God hates humanity.
The Cross reveals how far God goes to redeem humanity.

The Cross does not destroy the Nefesh.
It breaks the dominion under which fallen humanity has lived.

The Cross does not erase personality.
It liberates personhood from the impossible burden of becoming its own savior.

The Cross does not tell the thirsty vessel to manufacture water.
It opens the way to the Fountain.

The Cross does not send exposed humanity back into itself.
It sends humanity to Christ.

Therefore hear the final intelligence:

The Cross does not send the Nefesh back to itself with better instructions.
The Cross opens humanity to another Source of Life.

And the name of that Life is Jesus Christ.
