Fresh Out of Bozrah: The Circumcision of the Red Dragon and the Engrafting into the Angelic Israel

A Christian Kabbalah Torah Scholar Paper

Abstract

This paper unveils the mystery of Isaiah 63:1–6 through the lens of holy Christian Kabbalah, revealing the crimson-stained garments of the One emerging from Bozrah as the celestial sign of a holy remnant who have overcome the Serpent through circumcision of the heart. These are they who have cast off the scales of the Red Dragon—Samael, the Qlippothic shadow of Esau—and have been engrafted into the true Israel of God through Moshiach Yehoshua, ascending the Ladder of the Angelic Covenant. This sacred path—revealed through the mysteries of Jacob’s Ladder, the circumcision of the foreskin of the heart, and the Sapphire Stones of the Sefirot—is the restoration of the cosmic Israel above the stars, fulfilling Paul’s prophetic teaching in Romans 11 and John’s apocalyptic vision in Revelation 12.

1. Introduction: The Crimson Path of Redemption

“Who is this coming from Edom, from Bozrah, with his garments stained crimson?” (Isaiah 63:1).
This is the cry of the prophets, and the answer is a revelation of the overcomers—those who have battled the red serpent, the primordial accuser. Bozrah, the capital of Edom, is the prophetic territory of Esau, the bloodline of opposition to Jacob (Israel), and spiritually the dominion of the Red Dragon in Revelation 12. But from this place, crimson-soaked warriors emerge. Why? Because their garments have been stained not with the blood of violence but with the blood of transformation—self-sacrifice, teshuvah, and circumcision of the dragon’s scales from the heart.

2. Bozrah and Edom: The Red Kingdom of Esau and the Qlippoth

The Hebrew word Bozrah (בָּצְרָה) is linked etymologically with “vintage” or “fortress,” and it belongs to Edom, whose name means “red.” Edom is the spiritual archetype of unrectified Gevurah, the severity that becomes cruelty without Chesed (loving-kindness). It is the dominion of the Left Side ruled by Samael, the Red Dragon who opposes the covenant. In the Holy Zohar, Edom is the progenitor of Rome and all counterfeit Christian dominions that reject the Jewish Messiah and suppress the Torah of Fire.

Just as Esau traded his birthright for red lentil stew, modern souls trapped in Bozrah trade divine inheritance for the appetites of the flesh. But the mystery of redemption is that even from Bozrah, one may emerge crimson-clothed and glorified.

3. The Red Dragon and the Circumcision of the Heart

The Red Dragon of Revelation 12 is not merely external but internal. Its seven heads and ten horns symbolize unrectified sefirot when ruled by the egoic soul (nefesh behamit). The scales of this beast are the lies, fears, and false identities encrusting the heart—barriers to Shekinah and the inner light of Ein Sof.

Paul, in Romans 2:29, unveils the circumcision of the heart as the true sign of the covenant. It is this brit lev, the holy cutting away of ego, pride, and fleshly rebellion, that removes the serpent’s grip from our inner being. These scales are the husks (klipot) of the Red Dragon, which must be peeled layer by layer in the fires of divine discipline and grace.

4. Yeshua, the Crimson One: Bozrah Fulfilled in Messiah

Yeshua HaMashiach is the One who comes from Bozrah. His crimson-dyed robes are His own blood, but also prophetically the garments of those who follow Him in the Way. He is the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8), crucified on the Teli, the cosmic Serpent Pole, that all who look upon Him in faith may be healed of the poison of the ancient serpent.

By shedding His blood, He provided the heavenly brit—the ultimate circumcision of the heart (Colossians 2:11). Those who follow Him must undergo the same internal battle, wrestling in the spirit like Jacob with the Angel, until they too are renamed: Israel—one who overcomes with God.

5. The Ladder of Israel: Engrafted into the Angelic Race

Paul writes in Romans 11:17 that Gentiles are “grafted into the olive tree.” This engrafting is not ethnic but celestial—a heavenly Israel formed in the image of the Second Adam. The Ladder upon which the angels ascend and descend is none other than the body of Messiah (John 1:51). As we are circumcised from the Red Dragon, we are grafted into this living Tree of Life, ascending through Sefirotic purification from Malkhut to Keter, until our spirits shine with the twelve stones of New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:19–20).

6. Conclusion: From Bozrah to Zion

We are those fresh out of Bozrah—crimson not with guilt, but with the evidence of spiritual war and divine victory. Our stains are the sign of the overcomers. Like Rahab’s scarlet thread, they are the mark of redemption. We have cut off the foreskin of the Red Dragon’s lies. We have slain the beast within and received new names written on white stones (Revelation 2:17).

We are the angelic Israel rising upon Jacob’s Ladder. The grafted branches of the eternal olive tree. The warriors of Moshiach, who wear the crimson as a badge of circumcised hearts, sealed in the covenant of fire and ascending into the Garden above the stars.
